visiting opryland’s soundwaves water park with toddlers

A few weeks ago, we decided to do a one night staycation at the Opryland hotel to visit the Soundwaves water park! I’ve walked around the hotel a few times (mostly to see the holiday lights!) but haven’t stayed there. We’d heard amazing things about their new-ish water park that is connected to the hotel, Soundwaves, and finally decided to give it a try! Soundwaves is a “three level, indoor/outdoor, luxury water attraction” in Nashville — it’s only about 20 minutes from our house so it made for a very easy staycation. I’ll dive into more details and share a lot of photos below! BOOKING […]

flying with two children: tips, tricks, and learnings

flying with two children: tips, tricks, and learnings

A couple weeks ago, I went on my first flight since the pandemic! This was the first time Lucy and I  have been on an airplane since November 2019 (so almost 18 months later!) and Winnie’s first ever flight. Because I  apparently like a good challenge, our first flight during ‘these times’ was just me + the girls. NOT something I  would recommend, but totally doable! A few years ago, I did several flights with Lucy and Jack alone (one of them while 5 months pregnant…) but juggling a young toddler + ‘regular’ toddler + masks was… a lot. I’m actually doing another flight with just me […]

Travel Adventures: Weekend Trip to East Tennessee

Travel Adventures: Weekend Trip to East Tennessee

A few weeks ago, we stayed at a cabin in East Tennessee! Over the summer, we did a couple trips with our pod pals / family but haven’t really done any trips in quite awhile and were going pretty stir crazy. This was about 3.5 hours from Nashville so a fairly easy trip for us to make. We found this cabin on Airbnb and wanted to share a few photos from our weekend. We didn’t do much other than enjoy being in a new place, but the hot tub and indoor pool (!!) were definitely two huge bonuses to this space. Being able to drink […]

roadtripping with toddlers and infants: tips + tricks

roadtripping with toddlers and infants: tips + tricks

Hi! I’ve had a lot of people reach out asking me for road trip with kids tips, so wanted to share a few things that have worked for us! I’m not an expert, and I think even the most well-traveled, laid-back parents and kids have rough travel days. We absolutely do! That being said, we have done MANY long road trips with Lucy starting at an early age, and recently did a 8 hour road trip with both girls to/from Ohio. We’ve learned a lot from many trips, and try to tweak our adventures accordingly. Before I  dive into specifics on road tripping with kids, […]

travel adventures: a long weekend in kentucky

travel adventures: a long weekend in kentucky

Hi guys! As you might know from following my blog, we love traveling. We typically do an international trip or two every year, as well as many domestic trips to visit friends and family. With COVID-19, we opted to not do a big international trip this year which is SUCH a bummer, but certainly the right decision. To cure our travel woes, we decided to just make the most of it and try to focus on taking some fun family road trips this summer instead! This past weekend, we did a weekend in middle of nowhere Kentucky (Owenton, to be exact) with my parents and […]

travel adventures: algarve coast, portugal

travel adventures: algarve coast, portugal

After we visited Morocco, we flew to Lisbon, Portugal and picked up our rental car. We drove immediately from the airport to the Algarve Coast of Portugal. For this part of our trip, we planned to stay in two different areas along the coast, about an hour apart from each other. The Algarve coast was truly so magical and reminded me SO much of Northern California. So many times, E and I would just say – isn’t this just like Big Sur or Mendocino? When we travel, we typically stay in airbnbs, but for this trip, we decided to stay at resorts. We thought that […]
