ending childhood hunger // no kid hungry

ending childhood hunger // no kid hungry

did you know one in five children in the united states struggles with hunger, including more than 27% of kids in california? i hate that statistic. i can’t even begin to imagine what that would be like and it saddens me that it’s reality to people, especially children, all around us. no kid hungry is a campaign ending hunger by ensuring children get the healthy food they need. they do this by connecting kids to nutrition programs {school breakfasts + summer meals} and by teaching families how to cook healthy, affordable food at home. i love cooking and spent a lot of time in the kitchen with […]

for my roommates

for my roommates

today i want to talk about roommates. for the first time since high school, i won’t have roommates later this year.  i’ll be starting a new home with E which i’m totally excited about, but thinking about roommates recently has made me feel really sappy and emotional and thankful all at once. i remember driving down to ohio university as a wide-eyed 18-year-old ready for her freshman year of college. i had never met paige, who was my random roommate in the dorm, but we were texting the entire trip to school. fast forward eight {!!} years, and paige is one of my very best friends – […]

on possibility and 2014

on possibility and 2014

“Write this down: My life is full of unlimited possibilities.” – Pablo I’ve shared previously that my word for 2014 was possibility. I wanted to pick one word that would mark my year; that I could embrace and focus on all 365 days of 2014. I chose possibility because I wanted the year to be a time where I was open whatever was to come. I wanted to be open to potential and to be hopeful for whatever was next. The way this came to life this year has been really interesting and really awesome. It’s been a big year, an eventful one to say the […]

weekend trips, family and saying goodbye

weekend trips, family and saying goodbye

recently, eric and i flew to chicago to meet my parents and two of my three sisters for a weekend trip. the weekend was an absolute blast filled with food {lots of it}, laughter, lazy morning drinking coffee together and crisp fall weather. we watched sunset from an amazing rooftop patio, had the tastiest dinner at my new favorite chicago restaurant, wandered around aimlessly window shopping, went on a food tour, played tourist at the bean, listened to live country music and soaked up each others company. we were also able to squeeze in a visit with my cousin erin and her husband jc {thanks […]
