april reflections

april reflections

I’ve always been a pretty reflective person, and writing has helped me process my life experiences. I’ve been doing it here on this blog for 10+ years! Most recently, I shared some March 2020 reflections highlighting my postpartum experience, the tornado here in Nashville, and the COVID-19 global pandemic. I wanted to share some reflections I wrote (originally in the Notes section of my iPhone) now in April, almost six full weeks into our ‘stay at home’ orders. I’ve been thinking about all the things I miss so deeply – some big things and some ordinary, small things. After writing them all out, I then […]

kids costume dress up station

kids costume dress up station

Lucy’s big Christmas gift this year was a dress up station! I wanted to share a little bit more about the dress up station and what accessories I included.  What I love about this gift is that it encourages imaginative play, and is an activity Lucy can do now but also in the years to come. It’s a gift that can be built upon and isn’t necessarily “done”; we can always add more costumes and accessories to it! The most time consuming part was finding a kids sized costume / dress up rack that I actually liked. A lot of the options I found were […]

lucy meets winnie (and more hospital photos)

lucy meets winnie (and more hospital photos)

A few weeks ago, I shared Winnie’s birth story and today, I wanted to share our ‘Fresh 48’ session in the hospital. It was actually more like a ‘Fresh 24’ as these photos were snapped Friday morning, 18 or so hours after little Winnie’s grand entrance into the world! These photos mean so much to me and I’m soo glad we had these moments captured. My mom brought Lucy into the hospital to meet Winnie and it was such a sweet moment. When Winnie cried, Lucy wanted to give her her “hop hop” (bunny). And then again when Lucy left, she wanted to leave her […]

I GRADUATED!

I GRADUATED!

Masters program – done! 🎓✔️I wrote discussion posts, worked on research papers, created presentations, read a lot of textbooks, took quizzes, and collaborated on group projects pretty much everywhere and all the time over the past 20ish months. From coffee shops and the YMCA lobby to doctors offices and airplanes. In between breastfeeding sessions and diaper changes and rocking Lucy to sleep. In the mornings, during nap times, while Lucy went to school, at night after she went to sleep. During family vacations to the beach and on work trips in hotel rooms and while overlooking the Portugal coast. I applied to my program at […]

plant care tips & tricks

plant care tips & tricks

This post has been something I’ve been wanting to share for a long time! I’ve always gotten a lot of questions about our plants, especially since Eric built our backyard greenhouse. We had a ton of plants stuffed into our tiny San Francisco apartment and have always had quite a lot of plants inside our home in Nashville too. Now that the greenhouse plants are inside for the winter, we have 85+ plants inside! I  can’t take any credit for the plants. Eric has the true green thumb and is super deep in the plant game. He spends hours each week watering and caring for […]
