my first mother’s day!

my first mother’s day!

“…now that I am a mother, I understand what Mother’s Day is about: it’s about looking through our lives and recognizing the act of mothering everywhere we see it, and more than that, recognizing that when any of us mother– when we listen, nurture, nourish, protect–we’re doing sacred work.” – Shauna Niequist   Happy Mother’s Day! This is my first Mother’s Day as a mom (outside of being a #dogmom ?) and I’ve been reflecting on the importance and significance of moms. I just love that quote from Shauna Niequist above, reminding me to recognize mothering all around me. I’ve shared Mother’s Day posts celebrating […]

how to support new parents

how to support new parents

my blog has definitely taken a backseat lately with Lucy here, and all the other life things going on. that being said, this post has been on my mind for awhile and I’m excited to finally share! today, I want to share some ways you/anyone can support and help new parents. before having Lucy, I didn’t know a ton of people with kids, so didn’t have a lot of  hands-on experience helping new parents. here’s some of the amazing, helpful and supportive things people did for US after Lucy was born! some were “big things” and some were small, but still significant things. some were […]

lucy’s birth story

lucy’s birth story

NAME: Lucy Grey Burdullis DATE + TIME: Thursday, January 25 at 10:28am SIZE: 6 lbs 11oz, 18 in long It’s surreal for me to think that just over a week ago we were welcoming baby Lucy to the world! The entire birthing experience feels like a whirlwind, with some parts super vivid and others blending together, all at once. Like other life updates, I wanted to document and share Lucy’s birth story here. I’ve enjoyed reading other people’s birth stories (they often make me cry!) so taking time to reflect and write out our own little (but very long) story feels important and special to […]

life update

I have some fun and v big news to share today! We are having a baby! And whew, it feels really good to finalllly share the news publicly (I’m so bad about being secretive). ? Our little BB is coming in January, so he/she will share a birthday month with me! We found out we were pregnant when the baby was about 5 weeks and now we’re at about 16 weeks! At first, and especially during the first few weeks, it felt surreal and didn’t quite sink it that yes, we are having a kid. A few weeks ago, we had an ultrasound where we felt […]

Meet Jack!

hi friends! say hello to our new puppy, jack! we’ve been wanting to rescue/adopt a dog for a few months now and it finally happened over the weekend. recently, we’ve been pretty much stalking rescue websites all over the bay area, applying/reaching out and not having too much luck. we ended up braving the rain and attending an adoption event on sunday afternoon that rocket dog rescue was hosting and met this sweet guy! he had been in a loving foster home one week before the event, but before that, rocket dog rescue volunteers picked him up in the bakersfield area. apparently one of the volunteers […]
