Lucy and Winnie’s Colorful Christmas Tree!

Lucy and Winnie’s Colorful Christmas Tree!

The girls, like most kids, are OBSESSED with the holidays. Lucy especially talks about Christmas ALL year long. This year, I wanted to put a little Christmas tree in their room, filled with colorful and whimsical ornaments. Their room is such a colorful and sunshine-y space, and I  wanted their little tree to have that same magic. ✨ I  ordered this small 4 foot artificial white tree and filled it with pink ornaments and other fun ornaments inspired by their room (🌈☀️)  and their interests (animals, dessert, etc. 🐰🍦). It brings SO much joy to them and they really love it so much! It makes […]

Galentine’s Day with Minted

hi friends! WHERE DID JANUARY GO? the month flew by and I can’t believe it’s almost February and the month of love! ?? I’ve never been a huge Valentine’s Day fan (mostly because I was single for a looong time✌?) and thought the holiday was kind of forced and cheesy. ? random fun story though – one year in college, my friend Tess and I threw a party on February 14th with the theme/tagline “bring a bottle, not a date” because we were so anti-Valentine’s Day and wanted to spend time with our lady besties instead. it was hilarious and very fun and now I want to […]

present over perfect this holiday season

My mantra for this month and holiday season is present over perfect. If you know me at all, you know I’ve always connected with the lovely, powerful words from Shauna Niequist. She’s my favorite author and sort of like my patron saint – it seems like every time I read something she’s written, it just hits me. Yes, yes, yes. Needed those words and that reminder. Anyway, she often writes about this whole ‘present over perfect’ thing and the power of being being here, right now, over striving for perfection. Today, I wanted to share a few excerpts from some of her books about what present […]

advent

There are years when the Christmas spirit is hard to come by, and it’s in those seasons when I’m so thankful for Advent. Consider it a less flashy but still very beautiful way of being present to this season. Give up for a while your false and failing attempts at merriment, and thank God for thin places, and for Advent, for a season that understands longing and loneliness and long nights. Let yourself fall open to Advent, to anticipation, to the belief that what is empty will be filled, what is broken will be repaired, and what is lost can always be found, no matter […]
