guard your gates

guard your gates

Well, you know what? You don’t have to let that fear into your mind and into your heart, sweetheart. Just because there are scary things, it doesn’t mean you need to invite them. Let’s pretend your heart and your mind have a gate, okay? And we can either open the gate to scary things or things that make us bad or do bad things. Or we can shut that gate. Sometimes we still see things over a gate, right? But we don’t have to open the door and invite them to come in and set up forever. If scary things come into your mind and heart, it’s hard […]

on influence

on influence

Stop beating yourself up about your dress/pants size, about that your hair isn’t so-and-so color, about how many Instagram followers you have, about how many parties you don’t get invited to. Stop comparing yourself to someone else who has a bigger/smaller dress/pants size or better/worse hair or more/less Instagram followers or who gets invited to all of the things. One thing that always seems to be on my “Andi, remember this” list is to stop comparing myself to others, to stop defining who I am by someone else’s standards, to stop finding my status or worth in the wrong things. I love this message from […]

dear courageous girl

Dear Courageous Girl, If only we could push a delete button, or backspace…….if only we could go back and make things happen differently than they did….especially when things are painful, or there is a huge loss, or we have made a big mistake, or someone else has made a big mistake that affects us. We ache and bleed and suffer when we wish things were different than they are…and we don’t even realize that the thing that is really keeping us from healing is that we are simply not accepting things as they are, but we are still wishing things had happened differently, or not […]

Thanksgiving & Friendsgiving Tips & Etiquette

Thanksgiving & Friendsgiving Tips & Etiquette

Happy Monday and Thanksgiving week! I am super excited not only for a short week at work, but to celebrate one of my favorite holidays, Thanksgiving! I love that the holiday brings people together, revolves around food {mashed potatoes!} and allows us to actually focus on what we are thankful for. While remembering what I’m grateful for and sharing is something I try to do all the time, there’s something really special about people talking about what they are thankful for together out loud. This will be the FOURTH year of a Friendsgiving we’re hosting at our apartment. It started because a lot of us from […]

on vulnerability and friendship

on vulnerability and friendship

recently, i sent an email to a few people asking for some life advice, actually around the topic of blogging and writing. the email wasn’t monumental; i was asking for people to share their feedback, their honesty, their advice. i have been so humbled and inspired and thankful for their responses. it was such a cool, real-life reminder that people near and far care about me, love me and want me to be happy. a few of the responses have nearly brought me to tears and i’ve spent the last hour feeling peaceful, accepted, supported, loved. it made me think about the importance of being […]

new curly girl design cards!

i was so excited when i found out curly girl design released new cards! i’m a huge fan of all cards, but curly girl has been near and dear to my heart for awhile {more blog posts here}. i first discovered the card brand at the beginning of college and since, have been buying and sending these cards {and other curly girl products} to friends. it’s also pretty obvious that i love the artwork, because my mom and friends often send me the cards too! here’s a few of their latest cards – to view the images, click on the dots in the lower right hand corner of […]
