wedding, part 1

I’m excited to share the first in a series of blog posts from our wedding! These are the getting ready photos and I love looking over them again and again reminded of that fun and special morning with my mom, sisters and cousin Erin! The morning was fueled by lots of coffee, a little bit of champagne and Taylor Swift on repeat. Totally perfect! The girls picked out their own neutral bridesmaid dresses – I love the way they came out together! Their look was tied together through peony floral crowns and simple shoes. Stay tuned for more…! All photos by JR Magat // Makeup by Sarah […]

CHEESE PLATES!

let me just put this out there: I LOVE CHEESE. i could have cheese plates for dinner every single night. i love putting together perfect cheese plates – a variety of cheeses, nuts, dried or fresh fruit, olives, spreads and of course, bread and crackers. when we were planning our SF wedding reception, we wanted it to feel very us and we decided rather than cater something, we would make epic cheese plates. here’s what we served! cheese: we had six different types of cheeses, hard and soft, creamy and nutty. olives nuts: walnuts, almonds and {my favorite} marcona almonds with rosemary fresh and dried […]

my san francisco bridal shower!

my san francisco bridal shower!

i have the best friends ever. a few weeks ago, they threw me a super fun, beautiful bridal shower at one of my favorite places in the city, ampersand. ampersand is an adorable flower shop in the mission {which you’ve likely seen me post pics of, like here & here…}. the shower was perfectly timed because all three of my sisters were in town visiting! it was seriously one of the most fun and special nights ever, having all of these people together celebrating. ampersand is such a beautiful space that decorations aren’t necessary, but the girls ordered these gold YAY balloons to make the space […]

3 Lessons I’ve Learned While Wedding Planning

3 Lessons I’ve Learned While Wedding Planning

Nope, this post is not about how to have the most epic, organized Excel doc of guest lists or how to make amazing place settings. Instead, it’s about a few lessons I’ve learned – about myself and about marriage – while planning a wedding. The lessons are an a-ha moment, an I-should-have-learned-this-earlier-but-didn’t moment and most certainly “you-definitely-won’t-read-this-in-a-wedding-magazine” type of advice {or at least I haven’t read it in one yet!}. Keep in mind, these three life lessons aren’t just for those who are engaged. These are lessons that relate to our larger life experience outside of getting married, but for some reason or another, they really hit me during […]

my bridal shower!

before i went to nicaragua, i was in ohio for a good friend’s wedding and my own bridal shower hosted by my mom, sisters, cousin {maid of honor} and aunts. eric’s parents and sisters flew into ohio from california, which was extra special to have them there to celebrate. the shower was hosted at my aunt’s house, which is in this beautiful cabin in michigan. my aunts and grandma made a huge salad bar and lots of appetizers, plus lemonade and iced coffee {which i had about three of}. we ate together, played a few games {which i initially thought would be really cheesy, but […]
