nashville adventures {where to eat & drink}

i recently visited nashville again a few weeks ago and am so obsessed with that city! it’s so lively and fun, people are kind and the food is delicious. eric goes to nashville all the time for work and i am always looking for an excuse to tag along because it’s such a great spot to visit! i’m so glad there’s now a direct flight from the bay area (oakland) to nashville.

i like documenting cool places i’ve been in new cities so that i can 1. visit them again! and 2. share with friends who may be visiting that city. my good friend morgan recently was visiting nashville and asked me a list of my favorite spots, which prompted me to share this blog post! here’s 40ish amazing spots you should TOTALLY check out if you’re visiting the nashville area, organized by neighborhood and also by five different types of spots: coffee/breakfast/brunch spots, snack-y spots, all-day/dinner spots, beer/cocktails places and fancy-ish dinner spots.

Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant {downtown} – Southern comfort food; their Sunday brunch is A+! They have dinner as well with live music as well.
Biscuit Love {the Gulch} – Breakfast & brunch goodness. I ordered a brussel sprout salad with two yummy eggs on top with THE best biscuit of my life on the side. GO HERE!

Jenis Ice Cream {12 South, E. Nashville, Hillsboro Village}

ALL DAY / DINNER SPOTS:
Mafiaoza’s – {12 South} – PIZZA! This spot is super popular especially on Tuesdays because they have 2-for-1 beer & pizza by the slice.
Pinewood Social {outside of downtown} – this is my favorite spot in Nashville, period. They have breakfast, lunch, dinner and fancy cocktails, plus a bowling alley, swimming pool outside and Wifi {great for working lunch dates!}. It’s an overall amazing and super fun vibe.
The Pharmacy {East Nashville}*
Hattie B’s Hot Chicken {Midtown / Music Row}*
Acme Feed & Seed {Downtown} – multi-level event space and restaurant with live music, delicious food and an epic rooftop patio.

BEERS & COCKTAILS:
Yazoo Brewing Company {the Gulch}
12 South Taproom {12 South}
Jackalope Brewing Company {the Gulch}
Broadway Brewhouse {Downtown}
Patterson House {Midtown} – fancy cocktail spot that reminds me of Bourbon & Branch in San Francisco. They have an amazing drink list and the vibe is dark & moody!
The Treehouse {E. Nashville} – Super cool vibes in this bar/restaurant with a huge bourbon list. They have an epic outside patio too!
Tootsie’s {Downtown/Broadway} – super popular Honky Tonk bar downtown with different levels {including an outdoor patio} with live music on each.
Layla’s {Downtown/Broadway}
Robert’s Western World {Downtown/Broadway} – traditional country music bar that’s SUPER fun! I heard that their fried bologna sandwich is amazing but haven’t tried 😉

FANCY-ISH RESTAURANTS:
5th & Taylor {Germantown}* – sleek and upscale American restaurant {also SO MANY fiddle leaf fig plants as decor omg!}
HUSK – amazing Southern restaurant in an adorable old house. I think this is my favorite spot in Nashville! We just ordered appetizers and the huge Plate of Southern Vegetables and everything was SO good.
Merchants {Downtown} – duck fat tater tots, yes please. This place is right in the Broadway action, more upscale than the pub fare nearby.
The 404 Kitchen {the Gulch} – LOVED this place! We split a bunch of apps {Eric is OBSESSED with the lamb tartare, I was obsessed with the burrata & the gulf shrimp!}
Rolf & Daughters {Germantown}* – neighborhood-y restaurant known for their amazing pasta and creative plates. This place made BonAppetit’s 2013 Best New Restaurants list and literally everyone I’ve met in Nashville raved about it here! I MUST go next time I’m in town!
Cafe Margot {East Nashville} – adorable neighborhood-y French cafe. Their focaccia bread is delicious, as was everything I tried, plus the wine is super reasonably priced!
The Southern {Downtown} – Great steak and seafood spot downtown!
The Catbird Seat {Midtown}* – located above the Patterson House, this is a 22-seat restaurant offering a tasting menu. Haven’t been and hard to get into, but I heard it’s insanely amazing!
