If you read the first post of my blog, you read how Paige and I sort of “created” our own crown polish and queen ideology. She has been such an inspiration to me and a best friend and sister; I’m thankful for that everyday. Today is her 21st birthday and I decided it would only be appropriate to post some of my favorite pictures of us; beginning with the awkward freshman move-in. So excited to celebrate with her and family/friends this weekend in Pittsburgh! Our friendship has been a bittersweet journey-from being bright-eyed 18-year-olds decorating our dorm, awkward and excited for college adventures to finally […]
After reading one of my favorite posts about headbands from FSU Fashion Girl (thanks Chandra!), I knew it was time for me to blog about my absolute favorite go-to item. I wear headbands almost daily (not including the obvious boring headband wraps for working out, washing face, etc.) I feel like headbands can make a statement about how I’m feeling that day, punch up an outfit a bit more and are always the perfect fix for the inevitable bad hair day. The increasing popularity of Gossip Girl has fed into the headband-crave and Blair Waldorf’s ever present headband have inspired designers and excited girls of all […]
Can you pinpoint when the best week of your life was? I’m not sure if I can choose just one-but I know weeks spent at Rockbridge and Timberwolf Young Life camps in high school were definitely up there. Young Life is an organization where leaders reach out to high school students and the website phrases it perfectly: “YL leaders show they care by going where kids are, meeting them as they are, believing in who they can be.” My beautiful sister (and queen-in-training) Katie spent the entire month of July working and volunteering at a Young Life camp in Saranac Lake, New York. High […]
Some people, like my sister Hope, crave steak for dinner, followed by ice cream and brownies for dessert. Some people enjoy salads as a “pre-meal” or only eat salad on “fat days” when they feel forced to eat healthy. I am quite the opposite. Salads are a staple in my “diet” and I am constantly excited try new ones, enjoy constant favorites (like the fourth one pictured from Atrias in Pittsburgh) and make them on my own. As much as I love them, it sometimes can get boring and bland, so I have to mix-it-up and experiment! Part of my summer routine includes making a […]
Rereading my blog from last summer and really enjoyed this post. Thought I’d share it again because it was a quick refresher on why I need to appreciate my life everyday. I love how so many things that I “couldn’t do without” last summer are still constant this summer. The post is below: June 14, 2009 : I’m feeling grateful lately, so I wanted to list things and people that I couldn’t live without, that make my life happier and sweeter! My mom, her unconditional love for me, radiant energy, chaotic “organizational skills” and her ability to make the little messed up things fixable. Headbands, […]
Today is my mom’s birthday and she is the ULTIMATE queen. I am so blessed and thankful to not only have her as a parent, but as a friend. She accepts me right where I am at in life and challenges me everyday to be the best person I can be. I decided to post pics of memorable days with her. Happy Birthday Mom!
