8 IKEA Items We Have & Love

Hi! I wanted to share 8 items from IKEA that we have in our home and love! I first started shopping at IKEA as I  was furnishing my dorm room in college, as I think a lot of people do! IKEA can definitely have a “cheap, college-y” vibe, but I believe they have really upped their game when it comes to furniture and home decor lately. And, some of their storage solutions truly cannot be beat. The designs are minimal, which is nice because you can find things that “go” with whatever your style or taste is. In our house, I try to have a […]

april reflections

I’ve always been a pretty reflective person, and writing has helped me process my life experiences. I’ve been doing it here on this blog for 10+ years! Most recently, I shared some March 2020 reflections highlighting my postpartum experience, the tornado here in Nashville, and the COVID-19 global pandemic. I wanted to share some reflections I wrote (originally in the Notes section of my iPhone) now in April, almost six full weeks into our ‘stay at home’ orders. I’ve been thinking about all the things I miss so deeply – some big things and some ordinary, small things. After writing them all out, I then […]

before/after and DIY: upstairs window nook

before/after and DIY: upstairs window nook

Hi guys! I wanted to share a project we recently completed in our new upstairs space! A quick backstory on our upstairs space: we moved into our home in October 2018. The upstairs was broken into two rooms – one small one with a funky layouts and two poorly constructed closets you walk into from the staircase, and one larger room off of that first room. The first room’s floor was painted brown (WHY???) so the first project we did even before moving in was having a floor guy come and strip that paint and refinish the floor so it matched the larger room’s floor. […]

reflections on march 2020

reflections on march 2020

wow guys – what a month! the world is in a strange place right now with COVID-19 and everything being in lockdown. restaurants are closed, businesses are shutdown, we haven’t seen friends in weeks. we’ve been at home in self isolation for over two weeks now, and it’s crazy to think about how things were so different at the beginning of the month. I’ve been, understandably, super overwhelmed with everything that’s been happening in the world, in our community and our home, and with my body. In an effort to reflect on my own experiences, and hopefully connect with a few of you guys who […]

kids costume dress up station

kids costume dress up station

Lucy’s big Christmas gift this year was a dress up station! I wanted to share a little bit more about the dress up station and what accessories I included.  What I love about this gift is that it encourages imaginative play, and is an activity Lucy can do now but also in the years to come. It’s a gift that can be built upon and isn’t necessarily “done”; we can always add more costumes and accessories to it! The most time consuming part was finding a kids sized costume / dress up rack that I actually liked. A lot of the options I found were […]
