hi there! today, i’m super excited to share some photos from our back patio area! by now, you know I LOVE Wayfair and shop for sooo many home items from their site…rugs, chairs, our bed, our guest bed, plant stands, chandelier…the list goes on and on. they asked me to share how I refreshed an outdoor space, and I thought it was the perfect time to share our patio on my blog.

a little backstory – earlier this spring, we worked with a local contractor to add a deck onto the back of our house and honestly, it’s been THE BEST change we’ve made to our house! before, when you walked out of our back door, there was a concrete step down to the backyard and walkway. it wasn’t very pretty to look at and definitely not safe for Lucy! we also didn’t really use our backyard very much because there wasn’t an easy area to sit and hang out. we added a medium-sized deck that is flush with the door, so when you open the door (or when my toddler crawls out of the doggie dog), you are immediately on the deck. there’s one wraparound stair along the entire deck so easily step into yard. I love the way this looks, and it’s super functional with Lucy since she can safety get down from the deck and into the yard. we’ve only had the deck for about 5 weeks and we

i was really excited to start decorating and making our deck an extension of our house! I started with a durable outdoor rug and then added a modern, slightly bohemian wicker patio set. to up the cozy factor, I added pillows, including this this gorgeous indigo pillow from Wayfair! I love it so much that I am going to order a second one for the other chair. the pillow is so pretty, durable and high quality. you can wash the removable pillow cover, too! 😅we brought our big palm plant outside, because it was almost too big for any corner inside and it seems to be doing well out here. 🌿 the pouf doubles as a second table surface and I love how it looks with this white serving tray with gold handles on top. this serving tray is also from Wayfair and perfect for holding our coffee mugs, wine glasses, snacks, books, anything! we have a seagrass basket (similar available here) on the ground to hold Lucy’s outdoor toys, like bubbles, chalk, farm animals, etc!

we are out on our patio every day – for morning coffees, for picnic lunches, for a casual glass of wine before dinner, for afternoon playdates with Lucy, for lounging on weekends, the list goes on and on! we really love this area and I’m so glad I found so many decor pieces that are polished, practical, and flow with our overall home aesthetic. we’re already planning a big backyard party for later this summer and I know this deck area will be put to good use!
